Are you an Apple Music subscriber in India? Well here is the latest update for you on Apple Music Lossless.  Apple Music Lossless is soon going to be launched in India. Apple in May 2021, announced that it is going to upgrade its music app with Lossless and Spatial Audio support with Dolby Atmos in June. Apple Music has launched its new audio formats with Lossless Audio streaming, Spatial Audio, along with Dolby Atmos which is going to available in India soon for those who are using the app on iOS, Android, and desktop. This high-quality audio format however was announced last week globally. As far as the subscribers of the Apple Music app in India are concerned, it is not yet available for them. The disappointing part is they have not even announced a release date for India yet. So the Indian customers have to wait a little longer to avail the benefits. Apple Music has made these new audio formats available free of cost to Apple Music subscribers. According to a report, the features have now been introduced to Apple Music for Android beta.
Since the announcement of the news, many people have shared their experiences on Twitter. Some said that the support comes and goes on the Apple Music app. Some said that they were able to view the Spatial Audio feature on the app, and some others said that they were able to access Lossless Audio and Dolby Atmos on the app.
Whether or not these users were able to view the new format the good news is that the new audio features will be made available in India very soon. If you are an Android user and have subscribed to Apple Music App then you can also very well experience the Dolby Atmos, Spatial Audio, and Lossless Audio streaming. As per the reports of 9to5Google, the features have arrived on Apple Music Beta 3.6.0 Beta. To use the new features all you need to do is sign up to the beta channel on the Google Play store. Moreover, Android users would be able to access the new features along with the high-quality and low-data usage audio options. The ‘High Res Lossless’ feature of the app will stream audio at up to 24-bit/ 192kHz, and the ‘Lossless’ format will stream audio at 24-bit/ 48kHz, using Apple’s ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec) codec rather than the AAC codec
As per the company’s support account on Twitter, Dolby Atmos powered Spatial Audio on Apple Music will be arriving soon in India. However, we do not have any kind of on the release of Lossless on Apple Music. So, the Lossless feature is expected to arrive along with Dolby Atmos separately. Furthermore, Apple Music has provided these upgrades for free to those subscribers who have family and student plans. As per the reports from various sources with this new setting you will be able to play Dolby Atmos tracks on all AirPods. The music setting beats headphones with an Apple H1 or W1 chip. It also provides built-in speakers in the latest versions of iPhone, iPad, and  Mac. Additionally, the listeners will be provided new Dolby Atmos tracks with a special set of Dolby playlists so that they can search for their favorite songs like hip-hop, country, Latin, pop, classical, and some of the biggest artists and music across all categories. Apple Music with Dolby is helping musicians, producers and create songs in Dolby Atmos. It increases the number of Dolby- enabled studios, offers educational initiatives, and gives resources to independent musicians.
As per the company the lossless audio will support 75 million audio songs in its catalog towards the end of the year. Audio Codec (ALAC) will facilitate lossless audio. The Lossless Audio will be available as an opt-in due to the large file sizes and bandwidth for Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless Audio to play. The subscribers turn on lossless audio by running the latest format of Apple Music.  The steps include Settings — Music — Audio Quality. According to Apple, it offers Hi-Resolution Lossless up to 24 bit at 192 kHz. It is also going to support CD quality soon.
If you are wondering about what is Spatial Audio, then you must know that it is nothing but sound moving around you in different directions. Sounds similar? Yes, you guessed it right. We all must have experienced a similar thing before in cinemas. The only difference now you will be able to have a similar experience while listening to music. Spatial Audio was earlier launched as part of ios 14 and iPadios 14.  It uses the sensors in Apples’s headphones for head tracking.

Now let us take a look at the larger side of this latest change. On one hand, Apple declares this new music streaming service as the biggest advancement ever, on the other hand, Apple’s AirPods Max does not support lossless audio. However, many Apple devices do not support audio. Although the company has announced that the company will be coming with a software update shortly to support lossless but there is no clarity as to exactly when that is going to happen. Apple’s iPhones only support Apple Music Lossless without the highest quality Hi-Res Lossless. So if you wish to stream Apple Music with the highest quality Hi-Res Lossless then you need to connect an external DAC and use a wired pair of headphones. You must also know that Apple Music is not the only one offering lossless streaming. Many companies offer CD-quality and hi-re listening like Tidal, Qobuz, and Amazon Music HD.
